I have been hording some photos in my camera and finally released them from their prison and decided that it might be nice for you to see some pictures of the Sacramento Zoo's beautiful Carousel. We went shortly after they opened it and I feel privileged to have gone for a giraffe ride.
Magnificent, I KNOW!
The last one is of two of my favorite ex-room mates, Der Schnickleheimer and The Mama. Seriously, this is a lovely small zoo and I recommend a visit, if you are in the area.
You may ask what I have been doing, when not having some DRAMA. Well, I have been readying myself for The Woodstock of knitting, AKA the Sock Summit 09. I got a NEW SOCK YARN in, just in the nick of time and while Rod got the skein machine humming, I put that yarn into every pot and painting session that came up in orders. The array should be OK for the show but LIMITED, so if you want some, you will need to come n get it.
This yarn is Superwash Bluefaced Leicester in a fingering weight that is lustrous and soft, all at the same time. The consensus is that it will make a beautiful sock for the inside of a shoe. Needle sizes are between 0 (gasp) and 1 US/ 2.0-2.25mm and Brenda P got 10 stitches to the inch. See? Fabulous for you weensy yarn fans. Weensy and wonderful! :o) 465 yards to 4 ounces. $18.
Here it is in one of my new colorways. Thank you Danna for asking and asking and asking and asking for me to invent Pansy, to the point of waving a gorgeous purse in my face at Stitches South. Ok, I did it...I give you BFL Sock! and Pansy.
See the twist? It is springy, my friends.
Other new colors.
Fuschia in BFL Sock! in honor of Jasmine Knitmore's hairdo.
Blackbewwie!
Let's see...what else is NEW ? I finally lopped open my first bump of Superwash BFL Top, after letting it marinate in the stash for many many moons. Oh my, it is yummy stuff. I spun up a 4 ounce piece of Cirtus Bomb and it looks like this.
A couple of new colorways in fiber.
Jurassic.
Chaparral.
Seaweed.
Fuschia.
All in all, it has been okee dokee in the dye room.
I want to thank the 17 plus members of the Hangtown Fiber Guild for sharing their day with me, here in the workshop, last Sunday. I was not sure how I was going to handle it and kept putting it off, when I was so sick but you know what? It was a blast. I was so tired from being everthing to everyone but the bottom line is that it WORKED. People went home happy and full of new ideas for their weaving and spinning projects and I got to remember that I have a community here, even though people drove TWO HOURS, in some instances, to get here! I have a carton full of beautiful and yummy eggs, which remind me of the days that we had hens in Lafayette...lots of brown and a few Aracauna blue and green eggs. (rest in peace to my little hen, Pennywhistle)
We also enjoyed and savored every slice of the delicious home-made cranberry bread! It was like being a small town doctor...:o)
Alright, that is all.

Beautiful colorways!

You KNOW I'll swoon over any sea-related colorway. About to transfer some $$ into Paypay so I can place my SEAWEED order. This is how we started, remember? With South Pacific? Feel better LisaFriend - I'm following your travails and aching for you long distance. Hugs from NH Seacoast.

The subtle and beautiful new color blackbewwie really looks great. I look forward to seeing and touching the beautiful alpaca silk yarns later in Sept. Please take good care, Lisa.
Cheers from Hong Kong.
