Two weeks. I have two weeks to finalize the stock that goes with me in the BAV to Michigan. Honestly, I am feeling less stress than Tinkerbelle, who seems to think that she needs to make sure that I am taking bins stuffed to the gills with yarn and fiber. Tink...I think that we are going to make it.
I was muttering yesterday about how I was not sad to have made the transformation from 24 years of juried art fairs to just concentrating on my artisan dyeing. No looking back. I am sorry for letting down the folks in LA this weekend, people that are just so used to finding me in Santa Monica twice a year but the truth is, the ever expanding crazy prices of show fees for these events, for which I have to submit slides and hope that the powers that be want to take my money have pushed me to saying NEVER AGAIN. I could get on a soap box about my fellow artisans, people who pay huge money to promoters to have the "privilege" of being included in a craft show, only to be pushed further and further behind, trying to make up for those fees. I will just say that I am done. I will miss my fellow artisans and will just have to go visit them as a "civilian".
Now then, on to fun things. Some new knitted things have come through the inbox and I have cool pictures to show you. First of all, Kathleen Day of Fiona's Friends fame surprised me with an envelope of patterns for this CUTE hat!
I KNOW, it is so cute. She used one skein of Sock! in Mardi Gras for this hat she calls Faux Honeycomb. I love it. I get to borrow it and bring it to Michigan...so cool.
Fun thing number TWO. Holly Haynes finished the bag she had told me about, using Merino Sport in Little Devil. I am just too excited. The bag that she made with this yarn coupled with black was nice but this one using just the Little Devil is so great! Yay, Holly! Another piece to tuck into the BAV for the journey. She will have the patterns available soon but in the meantime you can drool along with me.
Oh and Holly also sent along a picture of some of her spinning...Biffle in Sky Drama. Beautiful!
Here's hoping that the weather is clear for the NYC Spin-out but no matter what...go visit Cara's blog and donate to Heiffer Foundation for a chance to win some wonderful things, while giving money to a great great cause. I give money to Doctors Without Borders (the guys that patch em up) but Heiffer Foundation gives women and families a way to make a living. Reach one, teach one. I am proud to be a small part of the event.
Ok...I have added black to my colorway line-up for Sock! and Sock! Merino. Do NOT ask me to do it in any other yarn...enn oh. :o) Seriously.
I'm with Tink--bins stuffed to the gills for Convergence! Can't wait to see Sheila's lovely items, too.
