You know that colorway that I call Newtown? That captures EXACTLY what the sky and trees and earth are like on a brilliantly beautiful day like today. The sun is high, there is a bit of a breeze and it makes it a perfect day for drying yarn outside.
I just finished a couple of pounds of BFL for a client and the sight of these glistening skeins outside right now, prompted me to Get The Camera.
I know that I left you all hanging with my Pity Party Woe is me stuff and well...I am done with that. It's August and my first born is nearing his (gasp) 35th birthday. How am I old enough for a 35 year old son? Well, I was a peanut head who started her family at a very young age, by today's standards. Well, I am DONE and others my age are still paying college tuition. I guess that we should begin to travel, before we get TOO OLD. :o)
Tom made me get all dreamy eyed yesterday by asking me where in the world I would like to go. Well, I am HERE for starters but there is plenty left to see and learn about.
So, Erik and his bride have begun their journey together with a family business. You might remember my telling you about Vicki and her magnificent photography. Well, she has taken Erik on as her second shooter when they go out on assignment and this has proven to be so wonderful for both of them and a dream come true for me. They can spend wonderful time together and be creative. Life is short and I am so happy for these two. Happy Birthday, Erik.
The August newsletter went out today (thank you, Holly) and I have announced yet ANOTHER new yarn to the line-up. I have had this one around in the touchy-feely stage for quite some time and decided that now was a good time to begin dyeing it. This is a lovely, soft Superwash Merino/Bamboo fingering weight that I decided to call Timaru, after a town in New Zealand...my favorite place on the planet BESIDE right here. :o) I knitted the swatch on size 2 US needles but I can see taking it down to a 1 or 0 for socks, if that is what you have in mind. I would use this yarn for really soft, next to the skin garments or shawls but the washability of the yarn makes it a good candidate for fancy shmancy socks.
We are looking forward to a weekend with the Schnickle. He really keeps us on our toes and there is never a dull moment around here when he is in full swing. I treasure these days with him now because when he and his mama get their own place, when things settle out, he will have a lot less time with us. We will go back to just being doting grandparents instead of being part of the Village that raises a child. That's good, too. Rod will begin to have the time to start building a train lay-out and when that happens...no one will see him. Hah!
Here is a gratuitous kid shot. Frick & Frack, with little Frack blowing kisses to his Grampy.
Ah yes, I keep forgetting! My webmaster/guru is a knitting and weaving blur these days. She has generously given me a link to share with you for free patterns on her site. They are the cutest tams to knit with a certain someone's yarn! Thank you, Holly!
Now then, it is time for lunch and then time for me to turn on part two of Pillars of the Earth on the old I-Pod and get cracking with this and the yarn in the pots!
Oh, Lisa! What joyful pictures and colors! Rod and Schnickle, of course, totally steal the show.

Oh My, that looks like such a yummy yarn. Read your interview on Tom's blog, and I feel like I know you a little better.
Keep on creating these magnificent yarns!
