What a weekend! My daughter is an Aries and when she is on her game, the woman can put together the MOST excellent and interesting activities.
Her loving friend and sorority Big Sister, Sarah came all of the way from Bend, Oregon for a fly by visit to Camp Souza and she declared the guest house to be comfy womfy. We declared her to be Schnickle's Favorite. Here they are on their dinner date at the Gold Vine Grill out in Somerset.
They began their special date, earlier, at the Boeger Winery, where the Schnickle was seen driving his new girlfriend "to Target".
It was a grand day.
Sunday, we were up and attum early so that Sarah could partake of the fine Kwee-zine at The Waffle House before heading off to do her fly by visits to friends and family in the Bay Area. What a treat to have you here, Miss Thing. Mwah!
Our Sunday afternoon was REALLY SOMETHING, I must say. We got the little man through nap time and then into the car for an awe inspiring event. Yes folks, the clan headed to the Placerville Fairgrounds for the 35th Annual Police Officer's Association DESTRUCTION DERBY!!! Yeah, swear to the goddess. It was beyond fun. This event is put on by cops and sheriff's and firefighters to raise money for charity and generally have one heck of a time smashing into each other like crazy people. We laughed and roared and were awed by the spectacle that is going to be an annual event for us. Next time, we will have to partake of the kwee-zine of the Speedway...giant beer and nachos to knock you into next Wednesday. :o)
Every so often, some engine would catch fire and the fire engine siren would wail while the fire fighters ran out with the squirter, to put out the flames. With a roar, the vee-hickle would come to life and live to fight another day. Another siren wail and the action would begin again. Top it all off with a grandstand full of the families of these wackos doing the wave. I felt right at home. When asked about his favorite part of the derby, Schnickle informed us that he liked seeing the winners of the Best Police Vehicle and Fanciest Car awards do the face plants in the mud puddle. Mmmmmmm, good mud. :o)
I just plain love it here. Wine tasting, fabulous food and a real life Destruction Derby. Life is good.
Boy, is he growing fast! And already collecting cute girlfriends!

I don't know how available they are to you, but if you have a chance, he is the right age to watch lawnmower races and get a real kick out of it, modified, small, riding lawnmowers.
