It has taken us four years, well, ALMOST four years to do this. It seemed easy enought to live with an unfinished "back yard" when we moved here because it was All Nature, All of the Time. Seriously, when we first saw the place and I got a view of our park out back, I could have lived with the bark festival in the back, for what seemed like forever. However, the weeds that loved that bark made me think, two years ago, that something must be done. Of course, two years ago the economy took a deep dive and I got the message that it was Not Time. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago when we signed on the dotted line and agreed to let Scott and his employees have their way with our dirt. Yup, we are getting "landscaped". I have never had to do this, always inheriting someone else's "first garden" and building on it or tearing it apart in my own scattered way. This time, thanks to Mom and Lenny (RIP) it is our turn to put in the First Garden and I think that I found someone who Gets the land. It is going to be pretty darned natural but with paths. :o) Here we are at the end of week one, after flagstone, moss rock, DG, soil and water feature stuff has all been delivered. Seriously, a lot of work has gone on this week and we are watching the bones of this project emerge. It is all exciting and magical.
Tank, fluffing up the manicured sand in the path-to-be from the front garden, heading to the back.
Bits of the rock wall, stacks of supplies and hole for the water feature Non Pond.
The swoop down the hill.
How that paths will be. Warm decomposed granite and flagstone.
Heading down the hill.
Inspector Tank, walking the perimeter.
They say that it will be three weeks to the end of the project. It will be so much fun to share this with you!
What have I been up to? Well, I finally dyed that English Border Leicester fleece that I bought at OFFF last year. It is scrumptious.
